Set on 11,000-hectares, Gondwana Game Reserve holds the distinction of being the only Fynbos reserve in the world with free roaming Big Five game as well as endangered species like the Cape Mountain Zebra, Black Rhinoceros, and Black Harrier among many others. Its breathtaking beauty will sooth and delight you with its endless mountain views and green rolling hills blanketed in colourful fynbos.
A modern and luxurious twist on the traditional Khoi-San dwelling. Each open plan suite is nestled into its spectacular surrounds with 180-degree views, sky lights for star gazing, clay pot fireplaces and deep baths to keep you warm upon arrival from an evening game drive. Kwena Huts Lodge facilities include a large pool, a chic open-plan lounge and bar, a spa, and reception area with curio shop. Gourmet meals are offered in an elegant and intimate dining room set around open fireplaces, the outdoor boma, or private outdoor dining spots. The Khoi San inspired lodge offers well appointed private suites overlooking two waterholes across the valley onto the mountains, which once formed part of the famous landmass known as Gondwanaland. Fynbos Camp Villas Privately situated a short drive from the Kwena Huts lodge, each villa is divided into a superior double room and deluxe suite or can be rented as an entire villa sleeping up to 6. The villas are elegantly appointed in Afro-chic style with spectacular views of the Outeniqua mountains from your bed or expansive outdoor deck. Les Points Forts Guided Nature Trails and Fynbos Walks Walk with your game ranger into black rhino and elephant sightings unnoticed, to truly appreciate these spectacular animals. Walk with our Fynbos experts to begin to get a glimpse of one of the worlds six Floral Kingdoms, this is the smallest and richest per area unit. Bird Watching Gondwana has over 300 species of birds in its general region, many of which are endemic and only found in this part of South Africa such as the Cape Sugarbird and Orange Breasted Sunbird. Frequent sightings of endangered Black Harriers are a real treat! Junior Ranger Programme Kids of all ages are welcome at Gondwana Game Reserve. On arrival families will be informed about the Junior Ranger program and their ranger will enquire about any special requests, dietary, babysitting or otherwise. Children will receive a fun Rangers backpack and cool safari booklet to fill in throughout their stay. During game drives and other activities with their ranger, kids will be taught how to identify mammals, birds, Fynbos species, and even stars. They will gain a greater understanding of conservation and our precious eco systems. They will be quizzed on what theyve learned by their ranger and receive a level 1 Junior Ranger Patch and completion certificate, as well as a picture with their ranger for their safari book. Horseback Safaris Horse Back Safaris on Gondwanas specially bred Shire cross trail horses gentle giants. Overnight guests are welcome to alternate their game drive with a horse ride in the reserves 1000 hectare walking area. |
